I am a BC girl, born in Victoria. I have lived in 100 Mile House, Port Alberni, and Kamloops before settling in the lower mainland. I am married with two beautiful daughters.

I chose dentistry at the recommendation of an acquaintance. I completed a recreation management diploma at TRU, however, I quickly realized that did not mean I was going to be able to ski and play all day. In steps dentistry!

After dental school, I worked in a general dental office. Then I spent 14 years as a treatment coordinator and assistant to an orthodontist. I furthered my skills by taking a dental anesthesia course and worked for a dental surgeon. I’m now happily working at the Oral Health Solutions Dental Group but still work as a surgical assistant for a pediatric specialist in Vancouver too.

Outside of the Office:

My hobbies outside work revolve around my family. We love to ski, hike together, and travel. We have been to Greece, The Bahamas, Florida, Vegas, Hawaii, and LA numerous times. Next on our bucket list is to travel to Germany to visit our friends living there.

My Hero:

My hero was my dad. He inspired my love for skiing and the outdoors and insisted I was kind to everyone. At the age of 30, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease that caused him great pain for the next 37 years. Despite being in discomfort almost every day, he always wanted to chat and hear about my day and never let you leave the room without saying “I love you.”

I was born and raised in Zimbabwe and moved to Vancouver 11 years ago.

I have always worked in administration or as a bookkeeper, but five years ago I decided that it was time for a career change. It was my sister-in-law who worked in dentistry for many years that piqued my interest. So I decided to go back to school to achieve a dental office administration certification, and I haven’t looked back since.

It has been such a gratifying career knowing that, in some small way, I have had a helping hand in assisting patients. Whether it has been with their dental claims, providing a kind voice on the other end of the telephone, or even just a welcoming smile.

Outside of the Office:

I enjoy spending time with my family, going shopping with my best friend, and camping during the summer. Who doesn’t love a good camping weekend soaking up the sunshine and enjoying this beautiful country that I now call home.

My Hero:

My mom. She was the most loving, caring, and strongest woman I have known. She only ever saw the good in people. She believed that loving others and giving of your time is the most important gift you could ever give someone. Sadly, my beautiful mom passed away four years ago. When life gives me lemons, I remember whose daughter I am.

I was born in Alberta and moved to the West Coast more than 35 years ago. I am married with two boys.

It was my favorite aunt who inspired me to get into dentistry, and I’m so glad she did. I love helping people achieve optimal dental health and see the benefits of quality dental care.

I spent 15 years as a Certified Dental Assistant and have moved into practice administration, which I really enjoy.

Outside of the Office:

I chase after my two boys. I spend my spare time coordinating and coaching Challenger Baseball. I also enjoy outdoor adventures with my husband and the boys.

My Hero:

Wonder Woman. She is strong, independent, and fierce.

I first got into dental assisting because my mom was a dental assistant.

Prior to joining the Oral Health Solutions Dental Group, I spent more than 30 years in the food and hospitality industry and almost 20 years in the dental field.

What’s one thing I’ve learned? Customer service looks different to each individual, so being flexible is paramount to success.

I believe in a total and complete health model. It is important to be in tune with your own oral and systemic health as they impact each other. As a Clinical Coordinator, I support our patients with customized action plans to meet their personal goals.

I consider it a privilege to partner with Dr. Garrett and Dr. Hill. As a team, we strive to be the best in the field and improve our patient’s quality of life.

Outside of the Office:

I spend time volunteering in the community, hiking, enjoying nature, and hanging out with friends and family. I also let my youngest daughter practice her make-up skills on me and, occasionally, find time to nap with my cat.

My Hero:

My dad. He had a magical way with people. When he spoke with you, you felt like the most important person at that moment. He was a pilot, a salesman, a councilman, a gentleman, a father, and a good man. His mother named him, Weldon, an apt choice, “Well done” indeed.

I have a keen interest in overall health and each patient’s well-being. I really enjoy being a part of helping people achieve their health and smile goals. The bonus of working with people is the relationships you build along the way.

Outside of the Office:

I like walking/hiking with my mini labradoodle. Much of the summer is spent with my family in Osoyoos. I go paddle-boarding, attempt to play golf, and enjoy visiting a winery or two.

My Hero:

My hero is my dad.

I was born and raised in Alberta. I am still married to my first husband of 31 years. We have a grown son and daughter. We also have a “young at heart” border collie who is still expecting to go to university.

At age 14, I was employed as a shampoo assistant at a hair salon. I credit this early work experience and all the aspects of customer service that I was exposed to that created my desire to work with the public. It was during a career counseling session in high school that I was pointed in the direction of dental hygiene. There was a high demand for hygienists at that time and due to my love of customer service, it seemed like the ideal fit.

I have now spent more than 36 years in the industry and still feel passionate about inspiring patients to take better care of themselves. I’m a “flossing cheerleader” and really care about what I do. It is the best feeling when a client says, “that was the best cleaning I’ve ever had.”

Outside of the office:

I like to stay fit by attending three High-Intensity Resistance Training classes a week. I also love to ski, snowshoe and spend time with family, especially with our kids when they can fit us in.

My Hero:

It has to be my sister. She is a breast cancer survivor. I admire her strength, determination, and attitude.

Dr. Hill, Dr. Garrett, and their staff are excellent! After having many sub-par dental experiences elsewhere, I was so happy to find them! Professional, great quality work in a fun setting. If they served wine, it'd be perfect.

I was born and raised in Ottawa, OR. I then moved to BC after graduating from high school. I worked in television and became interested in dentistry when my two children started school.

My motivation to get started in dental care came from a friend who was a dental assistant. I helped her with her two children, and she encouraged me to come and work in her office. So, I started on reception and then found my passion for assisting. I love working and interacting with people, so dentistry was the perfect fit.

I went on to receive my Dental Assistant Certification and have continued my development at the Las Vegas Institute. I have now worked in dentistry for more than 30 years and have been at this office for more than 28 years.

Outside of the Office:

I love any outdoor activity. In nice weather, I love to go for walks, hike, and bike ride. In the winter, I like to snowshoe and downhill ski. I enjoy getting together with family and friends too.

My Hero:

My parents. They helped me become the person I am today.

I was born in Surrey, BC and have lived here all my life. I am married and have four siblings. I have pretty much worked since high school. I have had a few jobs including working as an extra on movie sets, as a restaurant server, and in a bridal store.

After these odd jobs, I found dentistry and became a Certified Dental Assistant. I chose this career because it is an ethical profession that can make a real difference in people’s lives. I enjoy helping people get relief from pain, improve their self-esteem, and see the positive side of dentistry.

I strive to build strong relationships with our patients and get to know them as a real person. I love interacting with patients and educating them, so they feel empowered to improve their health.

Outside of the Office:

I love to travel and enjoy live theater. I also have a passion for animal conservation and sponsor an orphan elephant.

My Hero:

I have four:

  • My husband
  • My younger sister

I grew up in Burnaby and moved to Langley, BC more than 21 years ago with my family. I have three adult children, two girls, and a boy. I also have a dog named Molly, and a cat named Abbey.

I fell into dentistry and started as a chairside assistant then went on to get my certification. I like to help people and find dentistry fascinating and challenging. I strive to make every experience a positive one for our patients, especially kids.

I have worked in all areas of dentistry including assisting, reception, orthodontics, and enjoy each of them. I continue to develop my skills through continued education. I have attended courses at the Las Vegas Institute and have studied Myobrace.

Outside of the Office:

I enjoy running with friends, hiking, walking, and traveling. I love to snorkel in Mexico and Hawaii. I also enjoy doing things with family and friends.

My Hero:

My hero is my son who keeps a positive attitude despite the challenges that life keeps sending him.

I was born in Edmonton. My family moved to India when I was two years old. After spending ten years in India, we moved back and settled in Kitimat, BC. I’m married and have two wonderful kids. My interest in dentistry developed slowly. I started as a dental receptionist and then progressed to chairside assistant and, finally, became a Certified Dental Assistant.

Dentistry was first suggested to me by one of my cousins who was an assistant at the time. She felt it would be a good fit for me, and she was right!

I now enjoy meeting new people every day and playing an integral part in improving their dental health.

Outside of the Office:

I love to spend time with my family and watch home improvement shows.

My Hero:

My mom. She raised two girls as a single mother without any help.
